Cup 200 - Anglesey
Well, we said that Croft had only whetted our appetite in the small but extremely rapid RLM/Atomic Racing Cup 200 car - and Idola’s Al Boulton went back for another outing at Anglesey circuit in July for a triple header. This time we would be joined by Luke, one of the original VR Motorsport mechanics so it was great to get the band back together!
As is the norm in North Wales, the weather was unpredictable and threw everything at the drivers, wind, rain and blazing sunshine.
Race 1 saw Al in pole by 2 tenths and despite being dry, this race saw a red flag, restart and safety car period - which for a 15 minute sprint race was quite a lot to pack in! Al came in 1st in class and all ready for race 2.
Race 2 was very wet and visibilty pretty horrendous. Al was starting quite far down the grid this time but managed to hunt out what little grip there was, coming in 1st in class with fastest lap - not bad for first time in the wet in a Cup 200 car!
Race 3 and the sunshine came back out again. A cleaner race this time and another 1st place for Idola!!
Thanks to 750MC, Rich Webb and all at RLM/Atomic Racing
