Championship Winners!!!

It all came down to the wire at Donington Park for the final 2 rounds of the Praga Cup UK. The season seemed to go past in a flash and before we knew it, the championship was about to be decided once and for all. Anything could happen and going into the weekend the points were close enough that it was between Goldie, Mittel and Raw Motorsport for the top spot. Drama ensued straight away with the Raw and Mittel cars colliding in race 1 so it was obvious the gloves were well and truly off!

Idola were running 4 cars this time around, so alongside Gordie/Jimmy in Goldie - we had Ben/Jay in Everest, Ed/Chris in Bridle and in Arden - the pairing of Dominic Paul and Alex Fores. Our team plan was to basically stay out of trouble, minimise risk and maintain a consistent pace. Apart from a slight altercation at turn 1, this they all did and with the maths looking favourable for the Bridle twins they got straight on it. By the time the chequered flag fell for race 1, Goldie in the hands of Gordie and Jimmy had secured the championship for Idola. As a factory owned car we unfortunately don’t get to keep the prize car, but we have the title and the trophies!!!

2nd place in the championship was still to be decided in race 2 and there was still plenty of excitement on track. With 1st place already decided - all eyes at Idola were on the Bridles who were looking great for 3rd place, but with an outside chance of 2nd place. As it was, despite brilliant driving from the pair a 2nd place could only occur if the Mittel didn’t finish. Despite having to nurse their car to the chequered flag, they did make the finish and with it secured 2nd place in the championship and the prize car.

So there you have it - a new team, a new championship, new team members, new drivers and Idola came away as Champions !!!
